Teachers

This section has helpful links for those trying to teach others French- it's my first year teaching this year and I'm very excited to work on this section and share more quality educational resources that I find.

My school got me a Quia instructor account- take a look at the Quia Instructor Zone and explore this useful site where teachers can create their own games, quizzes, and other activities.

Standards
:

For the state of Pennsylvania, there is a comprehensive guideline of standards for most subjects- but not foreign languages. Below are links to several different proposed sets of FL standards.

Here is a link to the proposed Standards for Modern Languages from the PA Dep't of Education:

Bloom's Taxonomy- an important set of critical thinking guidelines used by quality educators. Here are a few websites: This site gives definition and key usage words, this site gives definitions and then sample questions, wikipedia's article lists it under the 'Taxonomy of Educational Objectives' which is another name for it, and breaks it down to affective, psychomotor, and cognitive (where the objectives are classified).

Resources
:

Multiple Intelligence Survey- this is a short multiple intelligence theory survey that you could give students to help learn about how they learn.

Windows Media Recorder (a great way to control the timing of movies and to avoid speed or other technological issues)

Online resources-

For finding videos, try using teachertube.com (their webpage says "Keep it safe! Flag all inappropriate videos) instead of youtube.com to ensure filtered, appropriate content. There are only a few foreign language videos right now, but this is a rapidly expanding site. Youtube also has good resources, but all too often questionable content for young students, especially with the commentary that goes along with some videos. Discovery Education has a lot of great resources and a "United Streaming" section that has many videos for resources.
