Alliance Française Student Essay Competition

Attention Students! The Alliance Francaise of Doylestown is pleased to announce its 2018 Student Essay Competition. The competition is open to all Bucks County 4th and AP-level French students. The topic for this year’s essay is Un pays francophone que j’aimerais visiter (à part la France)” (A French-speaking country I would like to visit – other than France)” 

-Essays must be written in French and should be 750 to 1000 words in length. Essays will be judged on creativity, originality of thought and grammar.
-A $500 cash prize will be awarded to the first place winner! The second  place winner will receive $250. An honorable mention book prize will also be awarded. Additional recognition will be provided by the Fédération des Alliances Françaises and by the French consulate.

There will also be subsections with sometimes a specific grammar or vocab. section, for easier navigation.

Fun (French) Foreign Language Learning Site

For a fun and comprehensive overview of basic French topics, I highly recommend this site: Languages Online – French section

It has a variety of fun language learning topics and methodologies.

It is broken into useful sections, each with activities ranging from fill-in-the-blank, to more fun games, and songs, to help you learn the set of vocab.

Give it a shot! Every level of French learner could benefit from learning some new words, or reviewing some old!!



La Mode – Another Random Sighting of French Word on American Clothing

“Le Français – C’est Toujours à La Mode”

The French are known for their class and style. I often see words in French on American clothing, from something common like “C’est la Vie”,  “Amour”, or “Bonjour” to less common phrases, this one was a new one for me.
